What is LameXP ?

LameXP is a graphical user-interface (front-end) for various of audio encoders: It allows you convert your
audio files from one audio format to another one in the most simple way. Despite its name, LameXP is NOT only a front-end for the LAME encoder, but supports a wide range of output formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis,AAC/MP4, FLAC, AC-3 and Wave Audio. The number of supported input formats is even bigger! Furthermore LameXP does NOT only run on Windows XP, but also on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and many other operating systems.

As all the encoders and decoders used by LameXP are already "built-in" (with one exception), you do NOT need to install any additional software, such as "Codecs", "Filters" or "Plug-ins", on your computer. Everything works "out of the box"! You can even use LameXP as a "portable" application, e.g. run it from your USB stick.
Moreover LameXP was designed for batch processing. This means that you can convert a huge number of audio files, e.g. a complete album or even your entire music collection, in a single step. And, as LameXP is able to process several audio files in parallel, it takes full advantage of modern multi-core processors! However LameXP is NOT only optimized for speed, it also provides excellent sound quality by using the most sophisticated encoders available and by giving the user unrestricted control over all encoding parameters.

In addition to that, LameXP provides full support for metadata, including cover art. So when converting your
audio files, LameXP will retain existing meta tags. But there also is an easy-to-use editor for adding or
modifying metadata. LameXP supports Unicode for both, meta tags and filenames, so there won't be any problems with "foreign" characters. And, thanks to our translators, the user-interface of LameXP is available in multiple languages. Last but not least, LameXP supports a number of post-processing filters, including sample rate conversion, normalization (gain), tone adjustment and downmixing of multi-channel sources.

Playback formats
Winamp supports music playback using MP3, MIDI, MOD, MPEG-1 audio layers 1 and 2, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WAV and WMA. It supports gapless playback for MP3 and AAC, and ReplayGain for volume leveling across tracks. Winamp supports playback of Windows Media Video and Nullsoft Streaming Video. Media Library
At installation, Winamp scans the user's system for media files to add to the Media Library database. It supports full Unicode filenames and Unicode metadata for media files. In the Media Library user interface pane, under Local Media, several selectors (Audio, Video, date and frequency) permit display of subsets of media files with greater detail.

Adding album art and track tags
Get Album Art permits retrieval of cover art, and confirmation before adding the image to the database. Autotagging analyzes a track's audio using the Gracenote service and retrieves the song's ID2 and ID3 metadata.

Podcatcher
Winamp can also be used as an RSS media feeds aggregator capable of displaying articles, downloading or playing that same content as streaming media. SHOUTcast Wire provides a directory and RSS subscription system for podcasts.

Media player device support
Winamp has extendable support for portable media players and Mass Storage Compliant devices, Microsoft PlaysForSure and ActiveSync, and syncs unprotected music to the iPod.

Media Monitor
Winamp Media Monitor allows web-based browsing and bookmarking music blog websites and automatically offering for streaming or downloading all MP3 files there. The Media Monitor is preloaded with music blog URLs.

Winamp Remote
Winamp Remote allows remote playback (streaming) of unprotected media files on the user's PC via the Internet. Remote adjusts bitrate based on available bandwidth, and can be controlled by web interface, Wii, PS3, Xbox and mobile phones.

Change Ubuntu Server from DHCP to a Static IP Address

If the Ubuntu Server installer has set your server to use DHCP, you will want to change it to a static IP address so that people can actually use it.
Changing this setting without a GUI will require some text editing, but that’s classic linux, right?
Let’s open up the /etc/network/interfaces file. I’m going to use vi, but you can choose a different editor

sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces

For the primary interface, which is usually eth0, you will see these lines:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

As you can see, it’s using DHCP right now. We are going to change dhcp to static, and then there are a number of options that should be added below it. Obviously you’d customize this to your network.

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
        address 192.168.1.100
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        network 192.168.1.0
        broadcast 192.168.1.255
        gateway 192.168.1.1

Now we’ll need to add in the DNS settings by editing the resolv.conf file:

sudo vi /etc/resolv.conf

On the line ‘name server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx’ replace the x with the IP of your name server. (You can do ifconfig /all to find out what they are)
You need to also remove the dhcp client for this to stick. You might need to remove dhcp-client3 instead.

sudo apt-get remove dhcp-client

Now we’ll just need to restart the networking components:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Ping www.google.com. If you get a response, name resolution is working(unless of course if google is in your hosts file).
Really pretty simple.

c (V)	Change the highlighted text.
y (V)	Yank the highlighted text. In Windows terms, "copy the selected text to clipboard."
d (V)	Delete the highlighted text. In Windows terms, "cut the selected text to clipboard."
yy or :y or Y	Yank the current line. You don't need to highlight it first.
dd or :d	Delete the current line. Again, you don't need to highlight it first.
p	Put the text you yanked or deleted. In Windows terms, "paste the contents of the clipboard". Put characters after the cursor. Put lines below the current line.
P	Put characters before the cursor. Put lines above the current line.
Undo and redo
Vim command	Action
u	Undo the last action.
U	Undo all the latest changes that were made to the current line.
Ctrl + r	Redo.
Search
Vim command	Action
/pattern	Search the file for pattern.
n	Scan for next search match in the same direction.
N	Scan for next search match but opposite direction.
Replace
Vim command	Action
:rs/foo/bar/a	Substitute foo with bar. r determines the range and a determines the arguments.
The range (r) can be
nothing	Work on current line only.
number	Work on the line whose number you give.
%	The whole file.
Arguments (a) can be
g	Replace all occurrences in the line. Without this, Vim replaces only the first occurrences in each line.
i	Ignore case for the search pattern.
I	Don't ignore case.
c	Confirm each substitution. You can type y to substitute this match, n to skip this match, a to substitute this and all the remaining matches ("Yes to all"), and q to quit substitution.
Examples
:452s/foo/bar/	Replace the first occurrence of the word foo with bar on line number 452.
:s/foo/bar/g	Replace every occurrence of the word foo with bar on current line.
:%s/foo/bar/g	Replace every occurrence of the word foo with bar in the whole file.
:%s/foo/bar/gi	The same as above, but ignore the case of the pattern you want to substitute. This replaces foo, FOO, Foo, and so on.
:%s/foo/bar/gc	Confirm every substitution.
:%s/foo/bar/c	For each line on the file, replace the first occurrence of foo with bar and confirm every substitution.
